Traditional remedy or use:
Native Americans used Monarda to treat
delirium, rheumatism, colds, headache,
as a
sudorific and
febrifuge. Used to
make perfume. After the Boston Tea Party
of 1773, tea made from Monarda
supplanted Indian tea.
Modern remedy or use:
Treats digestive and upper respiratory
problems, nausea, indigestion,
flatulence, colic and arthritis. Stimulates menstruation.
